Happy Families

Lisa is forty-two, divorced and a mum of three. For the past year, Lisa has been going out with Mark, who is five years younger than her. Lisa really likes him but she worries that one day he will leave - just like her ex-husband did. On top of everything else, Lisa feels really tired and moody, and has put on weight. She thinks it’s the menopause but could there be another reason for how she’s feeling?

Lisa’s life is about to change in a big way but does she want Mark by her side? Does he even want to be there? With the help of her family and friends, Lisa starts to believe that a second chance of love and happiness might just be possible…

Quick Reads is a major initiative from leading publishers, booksellers and writers that was launched in 2006. Big names in fiction and non-fiction publish short, fast-paced new books designed to encourage reluctant readers to get hooked on books. Adele wrote Happy Families specifically for adults who have lost or never had the reading habit as she is passionate about getting people to pick up books and give reading a go. Everyone knows someone who says they don't read - it might be that they have yet to find the book or author that turns them on!  Along with Adele, other authors published for 2008 Quick Reads include Gordon Ramsay, Josephine Cox and Vanessa Feltz; so one of them is sure to be that book for the reluctant reader you know. By the way, Adele's written this one without including anything that will shock your Mum/kids/Granny (delete as appropriate!)

Happy Families was the winner at the Quick Reads Learners' Favourite Award 2008.

On accepting the award Adele said: "Everybody who gets involved in Quick Reads is committed, we all want to make a difference, and so I’d like to accept this award on behalf of all those who have worked on this terrific project."

Brown hailed the project as a "great success story for Britain and the English language".

The Quick Read line up of books will be available from 6th March 2008 to celebrate World Book Day. All books priced at £1.99.

Sexy Shorts for Summer

A charity book with impact, Sexy Shorts for Summer is packed full of fun, raunchy reads by top international writers, including Adele. A sizzling selection of short stories that will raise £1 per copy sold for Cancer Research UK.

Sexy Shorts for Summer was launched on March 15th 2004.

The book, a fun mix of entertaining stories, also carries a serious message from Cancer Research UK about the risks of skin cancer. It is hoped that readers will avoid skin damage by heading the charity's Sun Smart advice.
